The Wise Penny

If you love a good deal, head to The Wise Penny. The Baltimore City Paper once called it the “best shop for bargain hunters.” Owned and operated by the Junior League of Baltimore, this local shop has aisles of both new and gently used clothing, along with household items. Plus, since opening over 50 years ago, The Wise Penny has raised over 2.5 million dollars to support the Junior League and its community programs.

Second Chance

Second Chance is committed to sustainable practices. In line with that worthy mission, the team deconstructs homes and commercial buildings to salvage reusable materials. When you visit the shop’s 250,000 square foot retail space, you’ll find table lamps, oak cabinets, colorful works of art, and more. The store is currently open Thursday through Sunday, 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Carry On Shop

At the Carry On Shop, you can shop for gently used electronics, clothing, and houseware. Located at The Johns Hopkins Hospital East Baltimore campus, this store is a favorite among locals. In addition to shopping, you can also donate any unwanted items to Carry On, as long as they’re clean and in good condition. Even better, these contributions count as tax-deductible donations. The shop is open Wednesday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
