Explore the Federal Hill Neighborhood in Baltimore

Just ten minutes from our Fells Point apartments, Federal Hill is a vibrant neighborhood known for its stunning views of the Inner Harbor. It’s home to cultural attractions and locally owned shops and restaurants.

It draws thousands of visitors every year and offers much to see and do. Highlights include:

Cross Street Market

Nestled in the center of the neighborhood, Cross Street Market is an old-fashioned destination that originally opened in 1846. It recently underwent a massive renovation and is both a local and regional destination for food and beverage.

Cross Street features 22 independent businesses, including Steve’s Lunch. For over 50 years, it has served countless meals to locals and visitors alike. The Nichols’ family offers fast service and makes each dish from scratch. Offerings include omelets, tuna sandwiches, and Maryland crab soup.

American Visionary Museum

When Rebecca Alban Hoffberger desired a museum that showcases creative invention and grassroots genius, she opened the American Visionary Museum. The artworks were made by self-taught artists whose creations arise from an innate personal vision. Visitors explore both temporary and permanent exhibits. One of the pieces currently on display includes WhirliGig by Vollis Simpson. It’s the most popular outdoor sculpture in Baltimore, weighs three tons, and stands 55 feet tall.

Blue Agave

With tasty tacos and over 130 different tequilas, it’s no wonder Blue Agave is one of the most popular restaurants in town. Chefs prepare authentic recipes from many of Mexico’s regions. They use time-honored techniques and make all of the salsas and moles in-house daily. The restaurant offers a vibrant setting with neon lighting, brightly colored walls, and televisions showing the big game. Menu offerings include vegetable burritos, chorizo enchiladas, and carne asada tacos.
