Baltimore nonprofits work every day to help people in need. Whether providing nutritious meals or fun art classes, they offer opportunities in our community. If you would like to support their mission, here are three organizations you can help from our apartments in Baltimore.
Ronald McDonald House
First, the Ronald McDonald House provides a home away from home for seriously ill children and their families. It’s run by a compassionate group of volunteers who see the guests through a time of unthinkable stress. They provide meals and activities. Additionally, they ensure a comfortable place to stay. To help from home, consider making an online donation or shop through the organization’s Amazon Wish List. Requested items include snack foods, frozen dinners, and cleaning supplies. Your purchase will ship straight to the Ronald McDonald House.
At Moveable Feast, the mission is to “Feed People, Fight Disease, Foster Hope.” The organization works to provide nutritious meals to those living with life-threatening illnesses. It serves 15 of Maryland’s 24 counties. Last year, they donated over 250,000 meals. Consider an online donation of any amount for an easy way to get involved. Financial contributions help pay for food, nutritional counseling, and other necessities.
Art with a Heart
Art with a Heart “enhances the lives of people in need through visual art.” Established in 2000, it started from humble beginnings with four small classes every week. Today, it offers 12,000 classes every year. Plus, they develop creative initiatives for individuals living in Baltimore’s most vulnerable neighborhoods. Additionally, Art with a Heart offers service-learning opportunities and a social enterprise/social retail shop. To support the cause, make an online donation or shop for items such as plastic cups and aprons from the organization’s Amazon Wish List.
